Hello everyone! Today I will be sharing our English Language Teaching Material Ufuk and I created using Augmented Reality technology. Augmented Reality is defined as a rising technology type that is a view of the real-world elements enhanced by computer-generated input. This technology will help students use English effectively, improve their 21st-century skills, and make them practice reading and writing skills.
This week, we designed an AR (Augmented Reality) trip to London. Our students will explore the British Museum, London Eye, Big Ben, and Tower Bridge in London. We used a website called arizear.app. On this website, our students can see 3D models of these places. We created QR codes for our students to scan through their phones to go to this website. We also created QR codes for the 360 videos of some of these places on YouTube. Moreover, we created some worksheets using Canva again and we created a booklet with them using simplebooklet. In this booklet, they will find the QR codes, watch the videos, AR on their phones. Then, they will do a brief research about these places and answer the questions in the booklet. We recorded a short video where we showed and explained our materials. Don’t forget to check that out as well.
Lastly, I want to talk about some of our problems using AR technology. Ufuk and I wanted to use the ARize app, but it was not available on Google Play Store anymore, we have tried different applications but most of them did not work on our phones or did not allow us to use 3D models correctly. That is why we had to use the website version of ARize. I think more AR technology-based applications should be upgraded and made available for both Android and IOS.
